DAY 25 : Psalm 91 and The Five Justices Siding with LIFE
DEVOTIONAL
While many are proclaiming a sure “victory” for Life, due to a leaked majority opinion draft from the Supreme Court on the Dobbs abortion case, we must not rest until final victory has truly come. At the time of the Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health court hearings, God was speaking to intercessors about the spiritual significance of this case:
The oral arguments were held on 12/1. Revelation 12:1 and onward literally says, “A mega sign appeared in heaven: a woman… She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: a mega red dragon… The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born.”
In verse 5 of Revelation 12, there was war in the heavens. We believe we are in a spiritual war right now against witchcraft and forces of darkness that seek to poison the minds of the judges determining this case. We are convinced that the Lord’s desire is to grant us victory, but the battle is not done. 1
We must understand that the battle we are fighting is not one that can be won in the natural alone; it is one that must primarily be won in the spiritual realms! The warfare in the heavenly realms over our governmental centers can be intensely fierce, as we are not merely dealing with human reasoning or debate – we are dealing with principalities, powers and spiritual forces of wickedness that are shaping the mindsets of our culture, at the very heart & soul of our nation!
Consider the following warning from recent history, at a previous time when victory seemed sure:
In 1992, Roe could have been struck down in the courts, but Justice Kennedy was swayed to change his vote at the last moment. This shows how we must war over these nine judges and over the witchcraft that is at work to influence them. 2
Dutch Sheets shares a sobering word and warning from Scripture, for the hour we are now in:
First, rejoice but stay focused. In Ezra 3 the Israelites were attempting to see Jerusalem restored. The first step was rebuilding the Temple. After the successful laying of the foundation, there was a great celebration - they poured a slab and threw a party. However, their enemies regrouped very quickly, organizing an intimidation and slander campaign, including the hiring of lobbyists. It wasn’t long before they succeeded in stopping the rebuilding process; the delay lasted 16 years. Their diabolical scheming had worked. God had to raise up two prophets, Haggai and Zechariah, to motivate the Israelites to restart the work. We must take a lesson from this.
We’re deceiving ourselves if we think the enemies of Christ in America, backed by demonic powers, will give up in their attempt to take over this nation. Ultimate victory over their efforts will not occur until a great awakening turns the hearts of tens of millions of Americans. This will happen - America shall be saved.
Not only must we see revival, but there is still much work to be done on the practical side. Regarding the abortion issue: if this ruling holds, it will not make abortion illegal, but simply send the decision to the states to do as they choose. A few will completely outlaw the process, others will put strict limitations on it, and still others will continue to murder babies - some even after they are born. Sadly, many in America have seared consciences.
That being said, the reversing of Roe is absolutely critical to the turning of our nation; God holds nations accountable for the decisions of their leaders. America, as a whole, has fed Baal and Molech the blood of innocent babies for 50 years. That national curse can now be broken, if the decision stands. Please don’t forget that no decision is final until formally released by the Court. 3
How Can We Begin to Pray for the Five Justices?
At this moment in time, there are five Supreme Court Justices who are standing on the side of Life to overturn Roe v. Wade. Those five justices are: Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. Pray also for the sixth justice, John Roberts - who is not fully supportive on the side of life, but is still under attack:
1. Let’s begin to DAILY declare PSALM 91 over each of these Supreme Court Justices, and plead the blood of Jesus for mercy and protection over them, as well as their families & homes.
News reports are revealing that radical activists are publicly posting their home addresses and organizing radical protests at each of their homes – seeking to intimidate, threaten & influence each of these Supreme Court Justices who are standing for LIFE in this critical hour! Let’s pray Psalm 91:
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
‘Because he loves me,’ says the Lord, ‘I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.’”
Additional Prayer Points
2. Pray that the victory would NOT be stolen, nor the language of the opinions be poisoned in any way. Let’s enforce the verdict of Heaven – which is that Roe v. Wade WILL be overturned in this hour!
3. Pray for the Lord “to bind the five conservative justices together in a coalition of conscience for the ending of Roe. Pray for (each of the five justices) to hold fast to their God-inspired convictions.” 4
4. Plead the blood of Jesus – “our greatest weapon against the forces of witchcraft and the accusations of the enemy” – over the hearts, minds & consciences of each of the Supreme Court Justices!
5. Pray Specifically For the Sixth Justice: Chief Justice John Roberts – that he would be convicted to overturn Roe v. Wade, to side fully with LIFE, and to fulfill the purposes of God over his life in this hour!
